As our club grows in size & players improve, we feel the need to grow and adjust our offerings accordingly. We have play opportunities from the beginner to lower-advanced player and now we would like to offer an event that will target our highest level of player. We hope that our members will appreciate our dedication to providing on-level play. There is no perfect rating system but the most widely accepted by the Pickleball community is DUPR, so that is what we have chosen to use. This advanced group will be limited to those with a DUPR of 3.75 or greater. Those who do not have a qualifying rating but would like to participate, can do so with initial approval by Dave Haber, our head pro. The players that do not have a qualified rating in DUPR will be subject to an anonymously submitted, peer review the first time they play to determine if they may continue with the group. Hopefully any player who is turned down from playing, either by Dave or the peer review process, will use this as a motivator to get better. We realize that this can hurt some feelings and is not for everyone. No ranking or evaluating system is ideal but maintaining the integrity of on-level play when appropriate is an important, worthwhile goal. We hope that our members appreciate that we are trying to provide a variety of playing opportunities for a varied population of players. Our first session of this advanced group starts on July 31st. It will be on Thursday nights at 6:30 pm in Grasonville and is for 3.75+ players. If you are qualified, you may sign up for it as a ladder offering on July 14th at 8 am through your CPC account. It will be self -organized with one person designated the leader for a given night. There will be cards to designate the starting court position for each person. After that, the winners split and move up a court and the losers split and drop down a court. Initially we will run 3 courts and if it is successful we will expand the number of courts to 4.
