Good Afternoon, Here is your latest CPC news: Mowbray Park: Court repair has been completed & the bathroom building has been painted & the bathroom ventilation system is working again. We are in discussion with Parks & Rec regarding removal of the “dog park” fencing, reorganization of the playground area and installation of a bottle refill station. Ratings Clinic: Ever wonder where you fit in? August 29th is our first Dupr skills assessment. More information on this event, including registration, can be found on our calendar. We are looking at requiring members to have a Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating next year to play in our higher level leagues. This will help us provide more consistent, on-level play. You can learn more about the Dupr system here. At this event you will also learn about the personal coaching opportunities available to you through the My Pickleball Coach app. Kent Island Classic: Sept 7/8th: This is our annual, public tournament co-hosted by QAC. Tournaments are basically a big, pickleball party with food, vendors and fun competition. This year food will be provided by Waterman Joe’s, Capriatti’s and Rita’s. We have pickleball vendors (Grafton PB, Addict PB, Court Talk & Coastal Run KI) and other locals promoting their businesses. You can register to play at this tournament here. Key to the success of this event is our volunteers and you can sign up to help us here. We still have plenty of spots open. So come spend some time with us……eating, watching & volunteering! PB 101/201: September 14th is our next day of free clinics. Please check the calendar on our website to see our latest offerings with links to the registration. Cardio PB: September 15th, 8am: a free, fun, fast-paced hour of pb drills. Registration is limited and more information can be found on our calendar. Ladder/leagues: Our 3rd round is in its last week. Starting September 16th ladder/league “purchase” will be available through our website. League play will begin the week of September 23rd. Another email with more details about league signup and play will be forth coming. Pickleball Den: We will continue to honor our commitment to supply and renew our members’ subscriptions to Pickleball Den through this last round of 2024 ladder/leagues. Starting November 1st we will discontinue purchasing subscriptions and will no longer run any leagues through this website. Nominations/Elections: There will be 4 CPC Board of Directors positions available in the fall: president, secretary and 2 members-at-large. The “heavy lifting” has been done and it is time for additional input/guidance from our members. All our prior & current board members are very dedicated to this club’s success….so there is plenty of help and support for whomever is interested in volunteering. These are administrative positions that do not require significant pickleball expertise, just a passion to offer the sport to our community. Please contact Lena for additional information/assistance. Club Merchandise: Thank you to Jack Perdue, our merchandise designer, who is always looking to add more options to help promote CPC. The latest additions, including UA shirts, can be purchased here.
