Good morning, For those who did not know Jim Flaherty he was an avid, passionate pickleball player and a key force in bringing the sport to QAC. It has been a club tradition to have a fun event near St. Patrick’s Day to welcome spring and start the new pb season. Please bring a dish to share & meet other CPC members. The round-robin style tournament is limited to 40 players with prizes for the top scoring players. Registration is full but it will be fun to watch. Player check-in will begin at 11:00am, with an on-court warmup by Dr. Leah Zinnert-Dedrick starting at 11:45am. This event is meant to be more fun than serious competition so there will be some twists. Players will have the option of buying a coupon book ($5) to use during play if they feel out matched….or even as a strategy to win against a comparable opponent. Examples of coupons available include mulligans, second serves, second returns & play points with the non-dominant hand. Each player may use only 1 coupon per game, so choose wisely. At the end, there will be an opportunity for winners to “poach” another player’s prize. Our event will have 2 charitable options. Proceeds from coupon book sales and a 50/50 will go to Haven Ministries, so don’t forget to bring cash! There will be a box available for toiletries, cereal & juice donations. We are also doing a paddle drive to benefit Kim Seidel’s school. Please bring any old paddles you no longer use but are in good shape. If you are out earlier in the morning to play, please do not park in the 3 spaces closest to the courts, on either side, so we have room to set up. The rain date for this event is March 17th.
